German Roman empreror. Karl conquered the
Langobard people in Italy in 774. He defeated the Saxian people
and unified many of the germanic tribes to a german nationality.
At christmas day 800 he was crowned in the st peter church in
Rome to emperor of Rome. Karl enforced several new laws in his
vast empire but was nevertheless unable to stop the
growing power of his noble men. The feudal system grow from the
need of large, and for its time, advanced, military units of
knights. Karl gathered his times most learnt men at his royal
court in Aachen. Karl was the great leader of his time. Allthough
Karl propagated for learning, reading and writing he himself was
unable to read. Therefore he constructed his signature in the form
depicted by the figure to the left. The figure consists of the letters
K, R, L and S. These letters surrounded the connecting figure
in the middle, which can be seen as a combination of the letters
A, O, and V. The end result being: Karolus.

Situated at the river Dnjepr. One of the the oldest town in eastern europe. Was built around the first century after christ. In the 9:th century the town payed taxes to the Kazaric people, bu they had to make way for the Varjager (Vikings) under the command of chief Oleg. Oleg made Kiev the capital in a small kingdom. These stories can be found in the Nestors chronicle. Here it is described how Oleg taxates different local tribes, and forbids them to pay taxes to the Kazars. After Olegs death he is replaced by Ruriks son, Igor. KIev was in its im one fo the most important centres for culture and trading. From 988 It was also the center for the missionary work in east slavic provinces. Trading was of central importance up into the 12:th century when the traders changed their routes.
Byzantian emperor and author to 'De administrando imperio', or in plain english: 'To rule an empire'. Written to his his son when he was comming of age in 952. The book is centered on Byzantian domestic and international poltics, arabian and hungarian politics and Armenian and georgian politics the domestic organization and administration of Byzans. Several older archive material and diplomatic documents was used as sources for this book. Of special interest from north european point of view is Kristofers description russian scandinavian trading on the river Dnjepr, where the dangerous rapids that had to be passed was named both in russian and scandinavian. One of these was Aifur, also named on a swedish Runestone located on Gotland, the so called Pilgårdstenen.
When the two god familys (the Asa gods and tha Vana gods) mad peace with each other all of them spat in a small bowl. The Vana family then made a man of the collected slaiva, this man where to be known as Kvaser. He is considered to have been the wisets of men, actually he was so wise that no one alive could ask him a question he didn't know the answer to. He lived in Asgård.
