A giant. Once he took Idun and her Apples and brought them to Trymheim. Tjatse was killed by Thor, that also removed Tjatses eyes and trowed them in to the sky where they became stars.
Tor is second of importance among the Asa gods. He is pictured as a large muscular man with enormous strength that can be further heightened with the use of his 'strength belt'. Tor is the owner of the magnificient hammer Mjolner, a devastating weapon that allways hits it's target. Tor is married to Siv and lives t Bilskirner in Trudvang, Asgård; Tor is the defender of the gods and the worldorderagainst gints and other revolutionary powers. His defence is based on brute force rather than wits and wisdom. Wits and wisdom is attribute for the other gods... Tor is also the god of thunder and weather, and therefre he is also an important god when it comes to fertility. Tor is the main character in many sagas where he fights evil powers (Tors fishing, Hrungner and Trym). Tor was a popular god, the many amulettes found, sagas told and other sources of information indicates this. Especially at the end of the heathendom and the start of the cristening of the nordic people Tor became more and more popular at the expense of Oden. Tor was a common first part of many personal names and names on places.
Tyr was one of the great warrior gods besides Oden and Tor. He was considered to be the bravest of the gods, he was the only one brave enough to take food to the Fenrisulv. It was Tyr who put his hand in the mouth of the Fenrisulv when he was bound by the other gods, and thus lost his hand.
